Silas Bloesser Recognized as a Wichita Business Journal Young Professional in a Major Company
Congratulations to Silas Bloesser, Project Manager, for being recognized as a Young Professional in a Major Company by the Wichita Business Journal. Below is content from the article published on October 25th that he was featured in:
Describe how you ended up with a career in Wichita.
I attended college at Pittsburg State University. The College of Technology hosts a great recruiting event each year. My senior year I interviewed with Eby Construction. After a second interview in Wichita, I received an offer for employment. I accepted the offer, moved to Wichita, and I’ve been working for Eby ever since.
What are your current job responsibilities?
I oversee several construction projects at once. I coordinate with all parties involved on a project, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Within our own company, I provide direction for superintendents and foremen working out on the sites, as well as our engineering staff that are doing procurement and project administrative work. I meet with owners’ representatives regularly to understand their current expectations and future needs. When we have projects that come up for bid or require budget estimates, I work with our estimating team to help refine the estimates and proposals.
Describe your motivation to pursue a career in your current profession.
To put it simply, I like to build stuff. Learning how things go together and what that sequence of events looks like is interesting to me.
Who is a mentor who got you started and why are they important to you?
My dad was the one who steered me in the right direction in high school. When we talked about careers and future plans, he told me what degree I should pursue to reach my goals. I don’t think that I would have started down this path without his advice.
