Eby and WSU’s New Shocker Success Center
The Wichita State University Barton School of Business previously occupied Clinton Hall. In 2022, it relocated to a new building on campus which allowed for Clinton Hall to be re-purposed. With its prime location in the heart of the campus, next to the Rhatigan Student Center and Ablah Library, Clinton Hall is an ideal spot to house the new Shocker Success Center. This project will bring together 17 different student services that are currently housed in 10 different buildings scattered across campus.
The four-story concrete structure originally opened in 1970. Eby crews began a full demolition of the interior of the building in February of this year. The new work will remove some exterior walls and replace them with new glazed curtain walls, to brighten the interior of the building and give it a much more open feel. The original entrances were large steps and switch back ramps that led to the second floor, given that the first floor is below the exterior grade. We have removed the old entrances and are constructing new, modern ramps to enter on the first and second floors.
Close and careful coordination is taking place with the utilities above the new ceiling. Linear felt and wood plank ceilings will be utilized above the common areas throughout the building. The project is 50% complete and is expected to finish in July 2024. We appreciate the effort of those working in this project and we look forward to the final result!
