Safety Poster Contest Winners Announced

On October 29th Eby hosted the 3rd Annual Family Movie Day for employees and their families. Prior to the showing of Hotel Transylvania, the winners of the 2018 Safety Poster Contest were announced. Each year Eby has a drawing contest for employees’ children and grandchildren. Participants submit artwork depicting what safety means to them. Many draw or list out PPE (personal protection equipment) such as hardhats, safety glasses, and hi-visibility shirts or vests.

This year there were four age categories: 4 and under, 5-8, 9-11, and 12-18. A team of 5 employees cast their votes and winners are determined. The contest opens at the beginning of summer and ends in August so that winners can be announced and a wall calendar can be printed featuring the artwork before the New Year rolls around. Email ebymarketing@ebycorp.com if you’d like to receive a wall calendar with the drawings in it!

This year, 34 kids submitted artwork*. Winners of the 4 and under (with parent assist) were Everest Grier (1st), Mollie (2nd), and Layla (3rd). The 5-8 year old category had the largest pool of contestants, with 15 entries. Jack Hauber (1st), Kailen (2nd), and Morgan (3rd) all placed for this group. Winners in the 9-11 age category are Gaige (1st), Charli (2nd), and Hali Shively (3rd). There were two contestants for the 12-18 category; Gracen Truskett (1st) and Maria Garcia (2nd). Gracen Truskett’s submission also featured a character that was selected as the 2018 Safety Mascot. He’ll be featured on promotional materials for next year’s contest.

The Overall Winner of the contest was Brody Shinkle, who is 8 years old. His drawing was of a crane and the Eby slogan Building a Better Tomorrow. His artwork is featured on the cover of the 2018 calendar.

In the next several weeks we will feature the artwork on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn with the hashtag #SafetySunday. Make sure to like our pages so you can see their creative creations!
