Garness Group is expanding its work across North Yorkshire with York-based Barry Crux & Company becoming part of its offering of specialist property consultancy businesses.

The company will operate closely alongside Hull-based Garness Jones – bringing together the combined experience in the commercial property sector to cover East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, and Lincolnshire.

As part of the deal, Barry Crux & Company, which has an established reputation in hotel, leisure and hospitality sectors in particular, will continue to trade under the same name, with the same long-established team remaining in their roles. Tom Cartwright - Belvoir - imageTom Cartwright, owner of Belvoir Exmouth, has doubled the size of his business with a third acquisition, just one year after becoming a franchisee.

The purchase of Stocks Property Management follows the acquisition of a small local lettings agency earlier in the year, which added to Tom’s lettings portfolio and provided him with a foothold into sales.

Tom’s achievements were recognised in March when he won the Belvoir Newcomer of the Year Award at Belvoir’s Annual Awards.

Tom said: “I can’t believe how much we have achieved in just one year! We started out with about 59 properties, and we now have almost 200, and we also won the Best Newcomer Award in March of this year, which ironically, I couldn’t collect as we were too busy completing on the first acquisition!

“There are now four of us in the business – myself, my wife Emma, Nick Wright, who is our property coordinator, and Ian Matthews who is ex-RAF and recently joined as a property manager with about 15 years of experience. I couldn’t have achieved any of this if I wasn’t a Belvoir franchisee. I hadn’t planned to expand as quickly as I have, but because I’m part of a franchise it all became possible.”
